Energy audits on all civic facilities have now been completed and a pathway has been funded by Council to achieve 80% reduction by 2030 and net zero by 2040. This project will work with the new Corporate Energy Manager role to implement this pathway. Applied for FCM grant for $5M heat recovery project for the Rec Centre (25% fund, rest loan). Currently applying for the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings grant for 7 of buildings for energy efficiency measures including heat pumps, LED lighting, pool covers etc. Attended the LGCAP Forum 2-day event (CEMx) and will attend the upcoming 2-day Ideation event. Will update the Local Government Climate Action Dashboard with Rebecca e.g. for newly implemented ZCSC policy., Currently in discussions with ZEIC on how to incorporate their BC Retrofit Accelerator into Port Moody Buildings. We have also joined a partnership with CEA on their Retrofit 101 general awareness campaign for contractors and realtors looking to educate clients on the benefits of home energy retrofits., 100% complete but ongoing as Development reviews come in. We are currently undertaking a review of our EV Ready policy to require new developments to install Level 2 EV chargers for 20% of commercial parking spaces, expanding beyond the current EV-ready infrastructure requirement., Newly adopted Zoning Bylaw Housekeeping Amendments have progressed this action that were devised based on the Local Government Low Carbon Building Policy Toolkit. The new Zoning Bylaw includes: For RS and RT zones, the bylaw includes changes to allow mechanical equipment associated with heat pumps to be located in the front, rear and possibly side yards while maintaining a 1.8m setback from all lot lines to address noise considerations – the ZB currently restricts the placement of this equipment to the rear yard (section 5.2.15). For RS1 and RS1-S zones, clarity on how the height of a flat roof is measured (section 8.4.3; 8.5.3) and to provide limits on the number and size of exempted features on a roof top (section 8.4.6; 8.5.6) Clarity for floor area exemptions to include thicker walls from more efficient buildings and the floor area and access area needed for mechanical systems associated with Green Building Systems (section 5.3.4). The parking requirements for the principal dwelling unit on a RS1-S lot has been reduced to 1 parking space to address a challenge that can be experienced with the development of RS1-S lots, particularly when a secondary suite and or a laneway house are also proposed on the same site and these also each require their own parking space (section 8.5.5)., Draft stakeholder engagement plan created and list of key stakeholders within Port Moody identified.
